Running targets to keep you on track during winter

If you are struggling for motivation to get out running now that colder weather is upon us, why not enter yourself into a 5k or 10k event. If you are a seasoned runner then 10k or half marathon is a sensible aim, whereas newer pavement pounders would find a 5k run plenty to enjoy. Here are some ideas to ponder briefly then enter quickly before you change your mind :

If you fancy running dressed as Santa try the Cattle Country 5k/10k Santa Dash on Sunday 8th December at Berkeley.

Sunday 12th Jan is the date for an interesting event called the Bath Skyline Day race, commencing at the University of Bath. You can run either 5k or 10k along a route managed by the National Trust taking in breath-taking views of the city of Bath, Solsbury Hill and Sham Castle. It’s an off-road run.

Feb 1st sees the Bristol 5k and 10k Winter Warmer runs in Ashton Court. Optional fundraising for Shelter charity.

A new event is the Simply Health Great Bristol 10k on Sunday 3rd May, the route of which takes you under Clifton Suspension Bridge and back to the harbour-side.

There is the annual Race for Life Cancer Research Bristol 5k on Sunday 28th June, (enter here), at which there is the option to run in the Pretty Muddy 5k obstacle course (enter here) or a 10k.

Race entered, trainers on, conditioning starts, here we go.
