Looking for a competitive, mindful, exciting activity to lure kids away from their smartphones? Try Tiddlywinks!
My son Thomas looked for a game to play and came back with Tiddlywinks, which we haven’t played for years, and we had such a laugh. OK, it’s not EXERCISE, but there were many other elements of SPORT within the game, like concentration, fairness, skill, speed, accuracy, enjoyment, desire to win, laughter, and [loosely] flexibility (sitting on the floor in different positions to gain mastery of the skill!).
We had many competitions, with hubby and brother joining in when they heard what fun we were having. Not that I was counting, 😉 but I was the undisputed champion. 🙂
It can seem like hard work sometimes to encourage youngsters to do something else other than engage with a screen. When they do the rewards are plentiful for all, not least of which is enjoying some laughs and hearty rivalry together.
